After interviewing one of our teachers, we gained a new understanding of just how vital teachers are in addressing global health crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. They are much more than educators—they take on multiple roles to support students academically, emotionally, and mentally, particularly during such challenging times. One thing that stood out to us was how focused our teacher was on student well-being. During the pandemic, regular check-ins on how students were feeling emotionally became just as important as academic lessons. This showed us the critical role teachers play in supporting mental health, helping students cope with anxiety and uncertainty. The Beacon in the Storm In a small coastal town, storms were a way of life. Every year, typhoons rolled in with howling winds and rain, testing the community’s strength. But through every storm, one teacher quietly held her ground, preparing her students for more than just the next exam, she prepared them for life. As another typhoon threatens the community, the teacher gathered her class and spoke softly, “Storms are fierce, but so are you.
